Expert Talk – Priscilla Burgoyne
An overview of Mesembs in the Southern Cape
Sunday, 24 September 11:00

Enjoy this fascinating presentation on the Mesembs (vygies to the rest of us) that occur in our neighbourhood by one of the world’s top experts on the subject. Priscilla has recently moved to George and is the Herbarium Curator at the Southern Cape Herbarium (SCHG) and is hoping to make a difference in the preservation of the floral kingdom of the region. She was a contract researcher at the University of Pretoria, where she earned her MSc in Plant Ecology. In 1992 she joined the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) as curator of several plant genera and initiated the Mesemb Mapping Project, collecting over 13 000 plants for the National Herbarium.

Have you ever wondered what that little plant is that you almost stepped on or the beautiful shrub with the purple flowers in the veld is? Find out in this presentation by Priscilla. Meet her in person and get to know the person who is the expert in our region on all things succulent.

Priscilla has a wonderful sense of humour and great speaking style. This should be a wonderful program for all who have the slightest interest in the plants of the veld.
