The Calitzdorp Succulent Society is introducing its first Vetplantfees to be held in the heart of the Klein Karoo where many of the succulents, endemic to South Africa, can be seen in its natural environment.
The festival will take place between 23 to 25 September 2017 at the Calitzdorp Station. Hours for the event are from 09:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the 23rd and 24th of September and from 09:00 to 15:00 on 25 September 2017.
The event will provide a showcase of many of South Africa’s beautiful and rare succulents while succulents from all over the world will be on show.
Succulent enthusiasts who visit Calitzdorp during the festival will be able to immerse themselves in a range of activities to discover the world of succulents. Whether you live in Calitzdorp, Cape Town, George or Johannesburg you will see indigenous and rare succulents where they grow in nature, buy specimens not available in nurseries and get advice on how to propagate, grow and care for succulents in the garden.
The festival will include:
- Veld Walks led by local experts
- Educational talks by succulent specialists
- A potted plant market hosted by growers
- An exhibition of succulents plants
- An exhibition of botanical art
- Original plant pots for sale
- Activities for children
